Work day on the Viking ship

NOTE: Because Göteborgsvarvet is on Saturday, it will be difficult to get to and from the location. So, the event is moved to Sunday (18th of May). Sorry for any inconveniences.

Do you want to help maintain a real viking ship replica?

We are an association that have built Vidfamne, a replica of a viking ship found just north of Gothenburg. We sail it every summer since 30 years back, and during spring time we spend time to maintain it. The ship is collectively owned by the members of the association. We invite you to join us and help maintain a unique piece of Scandinavian history.

We will clean and put tar on the wood, do maintenance, and make the ship ready for the summer. It will be a bit of physical work, but nothing demanding, you don’t need to be strong to attend :)

Everyone is more than welcome to join. No prior experience is needed, but you might get dirty (so bring clothes and shoes that you don’t care about)!

The ship is currently in Eriksberg, between Pier 4 and 5 at Sörhallskajen. The nearest bus stops are Sörhallstorget or Eriksbergstorget, and there is also a car park nearby. If you arrive by ferry, the stop is Eriksbergs Färjeläge.

In return for your time and help, we can offer an unusual and meaningful outdoor activity in the spring sun (well, the sun we can’t promise), new friendships and an invitation to join us for the sailing ahead. No previous experiences are required.

Apart from bringing work clothes, also bring water and lunch.
