Efficient Coding with AI Agents and Backlog.md

We’re excited to announce the next event of the Vienna AI Engineering Meetup on Thursday, October 2! For the first time, we’ll be hosted by Dynatrace at their Vienna office in the ICON Tower next to Hauptbahnhof.

This event focuses entirely on AI Coding Agents, one of the fastest-moving areas in AI with real, measurable adoption (according to some estimates, Cursor might be the fastest-growing SaaS company of all time).

Alex Gavrilescu, the creator of Backlog.md (3.3k+ GitHub stars since its June 2025 release 🤩) will start with an introductory talk on AI coding agents, followed by a practical Backlog.md deep dive with live coding.

From zero to Backlog.md (Alex Gavrilescu)

In this first session I share the practical tips that took me from zero to productive with AI agents like Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and Cursor.

We move from vibe coding slop to a simple spec-driven loop and see why Backlog.md (tasks as markdown in your repo) gives agents the right understanding and context.

No prior agent experience needed.

From Backlog.md to repeatable success with AI Agents (Alex Gavrilescu)

Hands-on. We use Backlog.md live to spec and ship a small app end to end: write the one-pager, add tasks with acceptance criteria, let agents build, and review the PR.

This is the same loop that built Backlog.md (99% agent-written) and pushed it past 3k GitHub stars.

About the speaker:

He still ships code, tinkers with Raspberry Pi Kubernetes clusters for fun, and is passionate about weaving project‑management smarts with practical AI. When you arrive in the ICON tower, walk straight to the info point and ask for a visitor’s card for Dynatrace (22nd floor). They will explain your way to tower 24.
Walk through the 1st glass door. At the 2nd glass door you will need your visitor’s card (left side) hold it against the card reader to open.
At the turn stiles, hold your visitor card against the card reader, walk through and have a look at the screen on your slide (while entering).
The screen will display a letter (A-D) which elevator you need to take.
At the elevator entrance is a small display showing you the floor where it is going -> enter if you see the number 22.
