VAE #11 - Sampling, Sound & the Art of the Chillout
For our next meetup, we welcome ambient and electronic artist DF Tram for an exploration of sampling and recorded sound.
Through examples from his audio/visual work, DF Tram will show how samples can be transformed and combined to create new musical worlds. The evening will also explore his work in chillout music and the chillout room, from early clubs and rave spaces to immersive, psychedelic forms of electronic music.
The meetup starts at 19:30, giving everyone time to settle in, grab a drink, and catch up before the presentation begins at 20:00. As with our last few events, this won’t be a rigid lecture: the talk will serve as a springboard for an open discussion, where we can share perspectives, workflows, and personal experiences with sampling and sound design.
Afterwards, we’ll stick around to hang out, chat about ongoing projects, and talk gear as usual.
