Social Film Club โ 33rd Edition
Verein MUT, Rechte Wienzeile 37, 1040 Wien, Vienna, ATA Branch of the Social Book Club focusing on International Cinema. I find films based on the taste profile of the cinephiles that regularly attend.
We the Lovely Folks of the Social Film Club, are back for the 33rd Edition this Saturday! ๐ฌ๐ฟ๐๏ธ
โ๏ธ We start at 19:00 hrs.
Films chosen for this week are:๐ฅ๐ฅ One of these three tender films about childhood โ we'll decide together:
- Children of Heaven (1997)
Majid Majidi's Iranian story of a brother and sister secretly sharing one pair of shoes.
Poverty, love, resilience, and quiet ingenuity โ seen through small eyes.
Warm, humble, and heartbreaking.
IMDb: 8.2/10 โ Runtime: 1h 29m.OR
- Good Morning (1959)
Ozu's playful comedy about two boys in a Tokyo suburb who go on a silence strike until their parents buy a TV.
Gossip, conformity, small talk, and childhood rebellion โ told with warmth and colour.
Funny, gentle, and surprisingly sharp.
IMDb: 7.7/10 โ Runtime: 1h 34m.OR
- Where Is the Friend's House? (1987)
Kiarostami's Iranian tale of a boy searching a hillside village for his classmate to return a notebook.
Duty, kindness, adults, and children's inner worlds โ captured with patient realism.
Simple, luminous, and quietly profound.
IMDb: 8.0/10 โ Runtime: 1h 23m.๐ฝ๏ธ Post Meetup Food at China Zentrum Stiegengasse if it is still open by the time the film ends (or else we improvise) ! ๐๐
If you just joined, please fill up this survey so we can better tailor the films we show. https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9
PS - I can guarantee comfortable seating for 10 people. People in the waitlist can show up as well, because a lot of people sign up but don't show up.
The event takes place at the Social Welfare organization called MUT. It is an organisation that works on social issues such as Emergency & Homeless Assistance, Food Rescue and Environment Protection. MUT is a non profit organization that provides us with the space to host the event. A small donation towards their cause helps them a lot.
