Short bike tour on the Donauinsel with a detour around the old Danube

The meeting point is located north of the Danube, right next to the Barbados Inseltreff restaurant / Donaustadtbrücke subway station.

Old Danube upstream:

From the starting point, we cycle along the old Danube and follow the bike path upstream in a westerly direction. This section is characterized by its peaceful and green surroundings. A little more caution is required, as there are some pedestrians on the path and cars may be driving slowly in some sections.

Western end of the Donauinsel (Langenzersdorf):

After about 7 kilometers, we reach the north bank of the Danube again. Now we continue for another 5 kilometers until we reach the western end of the Donauinsel in Langenzersdorf. There we take a short break, enjoy the view of the Danube, and recharge our batteries for the return trip.

Return trip via Donauinsel:

For the return trip, we switch to Donauinsel. The bike path takes us about 12 kilometers downstream back toward the starting point. This route offers a different perspective on the Danube and the surrounding landscape.

Arrival at the starting point:

After a total of around 25 kilometers, we arrive back at the starting point at the Barbados Inseltreff restaurant / Donaustadtbrücke subway station.
