• 18:40 - Damjan Gjurovski & Florian Pribahsnik - REWE's Data Platform evolution (+Q/A)
  A data mesh in the wild – in this talk we will talk openly about our journey of setting up a data mesh at REWE International. We will cover the good, the bad and the ugly, starting from the reason why we decided on a data mesh, the initial attempts and challenges and
  the current state and architecture. We will end with an overview of our future plans for the REWE data platform.

• 19:45 - William Arias - Scaling your data science experiments with MLOps (+Q/A)
  This talk will go over the architecture, tools and processes to scale data science experimentation with MLOps principles. First we will start with a business problem and link it back to a technical architecture to automate data extraction, processing and run topic modeling using open source software and CI/CD pipelines. Moving forward we will demonstrate how experimentation results, model candidates can be systematically tracked and tested. Finally, we will put it all together and demonstrate how the model can be deployed to different targets along with a user-interface tailored for business users. This presentation is framed on an internal use case where the need to create more relevant content for the community and customers led to text analytics and topic modeling automated adopting MLOps principles.

Speakers:

• Damjan is the CEO/CTO of Posedio and has worked with some of the biggest Austrian companies and service providers in the retail, education and finance sector. He enjoys working with new, open- source cloud technologies with focus on security and scalability.
• Florian is the technical lead and product owner of the REWE International data platform. After studying technical physics at the TU Wien and earning his PhD in physics at the Otto Von Guericke University, Florian uses his skills to tackle the problem of large data at one of Europe’s largest retailers.
• William is a Senior Developer Advocate at GitLab, Data Scientist and Guest lecturer of Machine Learning in The Czech University of Economics. In his free time, he trains his body to endure boxing, enjoys the Czech water and keeps improving his longest fasting time.
