Details
👋 Hi hi,
Our March meetup event is coming right up on March 12th and this time we're going to be back at Eversports, who are sponsoring and hosting us for the evening in their Vienna offices.
As usual, first we will have food and drinks and then, as of 6:30PM, we will start with our evening program.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
Rigerta & Davor
Agenda:
- 18:00 - Doors open - food & drinks
- 18:30 - Welcome talk by Eversports
- 18:40 - Zoltan C. Toth - Lessons Learned Putting LLMs into Production (+Q/A), Building with Large Language Models is exciting - until your chatbot starts leaking sensitive data at 3 AM. Drawing from my adventures (and misadventures) deploying LLM applications in production, I'll share the key lessons that transformed our approach from "let's see what happens" to "confident deployment." We'll explore critical decisions around model selection, infrastructure choices, evaluation strategies, security practices, and prompt engineering that can make or break your LLM project.Whether you're planning your first LLM deployment or already have the scars to prove you've been there, come learn from my mistakes - so you can make more interesting ones instead!
- 19:30 - Break 🥤
- 19:45 - Tamas Neumer - Lost Jobs, Zombie Tasks, and Airflow Nightmares: A Debugging Deep Dive (+Q/A), "You wrote the DAG, you hit 'Start'... and then?
For most Data Engineers, Airflow just works—until it doesn't. Jobs vanish, logs break, workers restart for no reason, and suddenly, you're staring into the abyss of orchestration chaos.
In this talk, we dive deep under the hood of Apache Airflow & Google Cloud Composer, peeling back the layers of executors, workers, Kubernetes pods, Celery queues, and mysterious zombie jobs. We’ll follow a real-world debugging story: how a seemingly harmless DAG update led to disappearing jobs, broken logs, and workers getting whacked out of existence. - 21:00 - End
Speakers:
- Zoltan C. Toth (LinkedIn) is a Data Architecture and MLOps expert who combines hands-on engineering experience with extensive team leadership. As a consultant for Fortune 500 companies and Professor of Practice at Central European University, he helps organizations navigate the challenges of implementing modern data and AI solutions.Having built and led multiple data engineering teams, Zoltan brings both hands-on technical and management perspective to his talks. He successfully founded and exited Datapao, a data services company that became Databricks's first European delivery center, and has managed engineering teams at both SMEs and startups. He serves as an organizer for the Vienna Data Science Group and is a co-author of The Handbook of Data Science and AI.
- Tamas Neumer (LinkedIn) is a Cloud Platform Engineer at Posedio GmbH, specializing in creating and managing cloud infrastructure with a focus on integrating open source products. In the past years Tamas has played a key role in developing an Internal Developer Platform, while in his recent project he has been building a Data Platform for Posedio's customers.
