Details
👋 Hi hi,
We're meeting again on May 13th for our 19th meetup event.
This time we will be organized by Posedio at novum Wien Hauptbahnhof (https://maps.app.goo.gl/n8ESsuKRXEqRiWXC8) 🎉
As usual, first we will have food and drinks and then, as of 6:30PM, we will start with our evening program.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
Rigerta & Davor
Agenda:
- 18:00 - Doors open - food & drinks
- 18:30 - Welcome talk by Posedio GmbH
- 18:40 - Attila Toth - Real-time machine learning with ScyllaDB and Feast @ScyllaDB (+Q/A), Real-time ML systems rely on fast access to features. Feature stores provide the infrastructure to manage and serve these features, but latency, throughput, and workload diversity pose significant challenges.
This talk explains what features are and why feature stores are essential for modern, large-scale ML pipelines. We will cover online and offline feature store workloads, the performance requirements of real-time inference, and the role of low-latency databases.
We'll cover ScyllaDB, a high-performance NoSQL database, and how it supports online feature store use cases through integration with the Feast framework. - 19:30 - Break 🥤
- 19:45 - Davor Martinovic - Beyond integration: OpenLineage as the foundation of a modern Data Platform @Posedio GmbH (+Q/A), Your DAGs are running, data is flowing, and your data catalog is filling up with valuable metadata. That sounds great, right? Yet, in modern data ecosystems, many teams lack end-to-end visibility into how data moves across disparate systems. When issues surface at the end of the data pipeline, you often have no idea where data originated, how many data sources were involved, or who or what introduced the error. What if you could trace your jobs, runs, and final datasets by source to build better data products for your users?
The talk will be a deeper dive into examples and a comparison of the state of the art amongst the major providers of data engineering tools. - 21:00 - End
Speakers:
- Attila Toth (LinkedIn) is a senior developer advocate focusing on high-performance, low-latency web and machine learning applications. Attila creates tutorials and educational materials for developers to help them build fast and reliable data applications with open-source tools. Before becoming a full-time developer advocate, Attila worked as a Python full-stack developer.
- Davor Martinovic (LinkedIn) is one of the organizers of this meetup and is filling in due to a last minute cancellation. He works a consultant for Posedio GmbH, the host of the May Meetup, a cloud consultancy specializing in platform engineering and cloud enablement.
Location:
novum Wien Hauptbahnhof
