What we’re about
The Vienna Data Science Group [VDSG - www.vdsg.at] is a nonprofit association which aims to promote knowledge about data science methods/techniques and AI
In its focus are:
• Applications where these methods such as machine learning (ML) are used
• New research happening in this field like deep learning
• Impact on society e.g. the introduction of autonomous cars
The Vienna Data Science Group [VDSG] rests on four fundamental pillars.
• Knowledge sharing
• Education
• Impact on society
• Fostering of ideas for business applications
How do we bring that to life?
• Holding talks and seminars for knowledge sharing and networking
• Organizing workshops bringing together companies, start-ups and data scientists
• Doing hackathons to delve into various topics like Julia or machine learning

AI in Action: AI Knowledge Graphs & AI Energy Trading
Anna Spiegel Research Center at Medical University of Vienna, Spitalgasse 23, 1090, Vienna, ATDear Data Enthusiasts,
Join us this time at Medical University of Vienna on the 27th of November to dive deeper in the world of Graphs and AI Agents and AI to advance Energy innovation.
Plug-and-Play AI Memory with Neo4j Knowledge Graphs & AI Agents
AI agents are becoming core to modern applications, from copilots that assist knowledge workers to autonomous systems that manage complex workflows. Yet one major challenge remains: memory. Without it, agents lose context, forget past interactions, and often hallucinate - undermining trust and reliability. In this session, you’ll learn how to use a plug-and-play Neo4j knowledge graph as a powerful memory layer for your AI agents. Knowledge graphs capture not just facts, but relationships, allowing your agent to build a living model of conversations, decisions, and data over time. Combined with modern AI services, this approach helps ground responses, reduce hallucinations, and create a feedback loop where agents become more adaptive, contextual, and trustworthy. Through a live demo, we’ll show how to connect graph-powered memory into your AI workflows with minimal setup, so you can build copilots and agentic applications that don’t just respond in the moment, but remember, learn, and evolve with your users.
Zaid Zaim, Developer Advocate at Neo4j
As a Developer Advocate at Neo4j, I help developers harness the power of graph technology and AI. A Microsoft MVP and global speaker at events like TED, Microsoft Build, and WeAreDevelopers, I focus on making complex tech accessible through content, community, and hands-on support. My mission is to connect, empower, and inspire developers to build impactful solutions.
Cross-Market Optimization for Batteries and Flexible Assets
This presentation will provide a technical introduction to cross-market trading signal generation: continuous data ingestion, forecasting, and optimization to coordinate batteries and flexible assets across reserve, intraday, and day-ahead markets.
Gabriele Libardi, Co-Founder at Marbl. - Machine learning engineer

VDSG x CEU - 2nd Vienna Data Analytics Jamboree
Central European University Vienna, 1100 Quellenstrasse 51, Vienna, ATIMPORTANT:
- After you RSVP here, you must register to attend the event at CEU's Registration Page, too, using the following link: Registration Page
- We'll host a Job Market Open Mic at 5:00 p.m. If you'd like to announce job openings or share your job-seeking status, please upload a slide to Google Slides using the link provided at the end of this announcement.
- The event starts at 2:30, but you are welcome to join at any time after.
The Jamboree brings together Analysts, Engineers, Data Scientists and Managers working in Business to talk about their coolest analytics projects. A relaxed and engaging event, the Jamboree features talks, discussions and Q&A fostering a fun atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for learning, conversations, and networking. The audience includes both students and working professionals.
The Jamboree will feature talks on designing and executing data analytics projects in business and roundtable discussions on what new skills are important for data science teams in the AI era.
In addition to Austria, speakers from the USA, Germany, and Hungary will make it a truly international event, fitting CEU’s profile as a University with a global reach. Speakers include Kevin Xu, a senior software engineer from Github, Inc. (USA), Alex Fischer, data scientist at Trivago (DE) and Iveta Lohovska, chief AI technologist at HP (AT). The roundtable discussion will feature Karl Kugler, head of AI Factory Austria (AT).
The Jamboree will also include a data job market open mic, where companies will briefly advertise open positions and internships. A wine and cheese reception at the end will make it more fun. The keynote and the roundtable will be streamed online.
