Vienna Data Science Group - Machine Learning Hackathon

Stay tuned for our hackathon - the second and final part of our 'Machine Learning' series which will take place at Metalab (https://metalab.at/wiki/Info_Folder/en).

We will start our cozy round with a short intro talk, whereas René (our Julia ace) will be presenting some algorithms and in which situations they can show their highest potential.

In the proposed projects we will look at four different topics, namely

• classification,

• regression,

• dimensionality reduction and

• clustering.

We will provide some data sets to work on, but feel free to bring your own! Language-wise, we can provide support for Matlab and Julia and a bit of Python, but of course you can use whatever you want!

After the intro talk, we suggest you pick one of the following projects (or bring your own), work on them individually or in groups or all togehter and we provide support wherever we can.

Project proposal 1: Classification of Images (e.g. numbers 0-9)
Project proposal 2: Embedding / Dimensionality Reduction of Images
Project proposal 3: Regression, e.g. price predictions
Project proposal 4: Clustering, i.g. find groups in your data

In order to help us preparing this HACKATHON and tailoring it to your needs / wishes, we would kindly like to ask you to give us a short feedback in the comments on following points:
