The talk explores how teams can use dbt and Snowflake to turn raw data into reliable, reusable datasets. We will cover the basics and current developments - including Slim CI, native defer-to-production, concurrent executions, dbt Fusion, and Cortex Code - and show how they simplify development, testing, deployment, and day-to-day ops. Attendees will leave with a practical mental model and concrete ideas for evaluating dbt Projects on Snowflake, including how AI can streamline development and help engineers work more efficiently.

At a fintech client, we accompanied this transition from the inside: from separate notebooks to joint work on one dbt project on a data lakehouse. The result: analysts who ship logic to production more independently, and engineers who moved from gatekeeper to enabler.
A field report on how the roles of analysts and engineers changed, and how one team balances speed, quality standards and build stability inside a shared dbt project.
