**How we did not migrate to Istio Ambient mode - Robert Sowula** **(REWE International)**
In this session, I’ll share our journey of evaluating a migration from a sidecar-based Istio mesh to Ambient mode and why we have not made the the switch (yet).
We’ll start with our current architecture and the pain points that made us re-evaluate. Then we’ll look at what Ambient promised and walk through our proposed architecture of running Istio in a sidecar-ambient hybrid mode.
We'll review our PoC findings and justify our decision to defer the migration. We'll then conclude with a live demo of Ambient and Sidecar workloads coexisting in a single mesh.
**Robert Sowula** is a Senior Platform Engineer at REWE, where he leads the Istio service mesh integration efforts and develops Kubernetes Operators in Go. He has several years of experience in software engineering and DevOps.

**Routing Reinvented: The Rise of Gateway API over Ingress - Mücahit Ündemir (WhizUs)**
In this session, we’ll explore the evolution from Kubernetes Ingress to the new Gateway API. We’ll start by revisiting how Ingress works and the limitations it introduces when managing traffic in modern Kubernetes environments. Then, we’ll dive into the Gateway API, highlighting how it standardizes traffic management across clusters and provides greater flexibility, extensibility, and role-oriented design. Finally, we’ll bring it all together with a live demo showcasing the Gateway API in action.
**Mücahit** is a DevOps Engineer at WhizUs and focuses mainly to automate code delivery to Kubernetes and make life easier for the Devs. He started his journey as a Linux System Administrator and now works daily with CI/CD Pipelines, IaC, Gitops (ArgoCD), Security, Public Cloud and everything around it.

**Keyless, Identity-based Signing & Verification of Software Artifacts w/ sigstore - Stephan Kraft (Red Hat)**
There is almost no debate that digital signing is an important best practice for securing the software supply chain, e.g container images, git commits and any software artifact that is involved in the SDLC. But managing keys is cumbersome, associating keys with actual human or workload identities is cumbersome, rotating and revoking keys is just annoying. Sigstore - an open-source project under the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) provides a robust solution to these problems. In this talk, we explore the history of digital signing, the challenges and demo a viable solution based on Open Source technology.
