We will return to Prater this week. Late autumn is the time when diving waterfowl are particularly active, searching for suitable bodies of water. They now frequent the old Danube channels located in the Prater park, which have long been separated from the main river. We are therefore hoping to see goosanders, cormorants, and herons. Woodpeckers are also frequent visitors to the bird feeders.

Some general suggestions: it will get very cold this week, and this is just the beginning. Please note that birdwatching sometimes requires sitting still without moving. Therefore, the usual strategies for avoiding the cold, such as quick movements, may not be effective!

Photographers: take a long tele lens for the birds, focus length is more important than light sensitivity. You can also bring a wide angle lens for landscape photography - there are beautiful views on the channels with water reflections!

Meeting point: subway station U2 Stadion

The walk is non-commercial and no guided tour. You are fully responsible for yourself. The organizers are in no way whatsoever liable, neither for your safety nor for your equipment!
