WEDNESDAY MORNING BIRDWATCHING/NATURE WALK - DANUBE WETLANDS

Dear bird lovers! We will meet at subway station Donaustadtbrücke U2. This meeting point is perfect to visit the wetlands of Lobau and Entlastungsrinne. We will be flexible to choose the best place according to the weather situation.

I had some walks on both places in the last days. We have good chances to watch interesting waterfowl. Many bird species in all Europe are migrating away from their breeding terretories to warmer places with more food for them. While not exhaustive, it is quite possible to encounter the following birds:

Grey heron
Great egret
Common mallard
Common pochard
Tufted duck
Great cormorant
Little grebe
Golccrest
Black woodpecker etc

Hints for photographers: we won't go into the forest, rather stay outside near the river bank, or near ponds. There should be enough light. Focus length therefore more important than light sensitivity, there might be some distance between us and the birds. Bring a good lens bags, to cover the lenses before you enter warm rooms after the walk!

Warm clothes highly suggested. There could be some rain drops, don't forget a rain protection.
