Graph Query Special: Current developments directly from the source

Details

On October 6 (Thursday) we welcome Keith Hare who is the Convenor of the ISO/IEC working group for database languages. For several years they work on standardizing a Graph Query Language (GQL, not to be confused with GraphQL) which will be, in parts, available in the next edition of the SQL standard too.

In the second talk Diogo Braga proivdes insights into practical applications of graph query langauges — even though it's not GQL.

The international standards committee ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32 WG3 Database Languages has been working on several projects
• A new edition of 9075 Database Language SQL
• A new part, 9075-16 SQL/PGQ – property graph queries in SQL
• A new standard
• 39075 GQL – property graph database language standard
• What is the common ground between SQL/PGQ and GQL?
• What is the Standards process and who are the players?
• What is the timing for SQL/PGQ and GQL?

Speaker: Diogo Braga, Data Scientist at EBCONT

Fraud prevention, risk management, supply chain optimisation, routing logistics - these are just some of the everyday problems that graphs have proven to be the foundation for the optimal solution.

In this hands-on talk, we will analyse multiple graph queries that effectively show how to take advantage of graph-oriented data to address real-world use cases such as the above-mentioned. After an in-depth discussion, you will certainly more often consider graphs to solve your problems involving highly complex interconnected data.
