Golang Meetup 2024 June

And we're off to the next Golang Meetup of the year!

Event will be happening in Omnisend office space (Verkių g. 25C, 7th floor) which can host up to 70 attendees.

We'll have three speakers each presenting on different level of expertise in Golang. Any of you will find interesting and relevant topics for every day coding challenges.

Beginner track:
ORM or Not-to-ORM by Tautvydas Liekis
There are lots of discussions, specifically in the Golang community, about using ORM (Gorm, ent) vs using libs like SQLX for query writing and interacting with databases. A lot of developers come from languages that use ORM heavily, like Java (Spring), and are not aware of pitfalls when using ORMs. Tautvydas will cover the pros and cons for the topic.

Intermediate track:
Beginners Guide To Processing Millions Of Metrics by Pijus Navickas
Modern applications generate lots of telemetry data. Sometimes it gets to the point where conventional solutions are no longer sufficient. Chronosphere, a cloud native observability vendor, has a metrics pipeline built specifically for massive scale. In this talk Pijus will share how it works from the inside, including challenges encountered, architectural design decisions, programming guidelines, and helpful engineering practices.

Expert track:
Event-based reporting engine in Golang by Paulius Indriūnas
Paulius will cover how he solved a challenge of reading and processing millions of events per second. The presentation will include:
- Query engine solution architecture
- How to bridge parallel data loading with thread-unsafe computing
- Benchmarking memory allocations using pperf
