Vilnius.js Meetup #19

Details

Three talks lined up for this meetup:

• Edvinas Bartkus (https://github.com/edvinasbartkus) - Riding to the App Store on the back of React-Native

In this presentation, I will tell you about our experience to create PlateCulture app with react-native and to release it into App Store and to get first users. Doss and Don’ts from our experience; our learnings and our tips what React Native is best for.

• Jiří Tobíšek (https://github.com/tobich) - React and Type Systems

In the present talk, I'd like to discuss the use of various type systems in the context of Front End web development in general, and React-based systems in particular. While I am giving a brief overview of the debate within the JavaScript community concerning the perceived merits and drawbacks of introducing types to the language, the main focus of the presentation will be an aspect I've dubbed "ecological", whose main concern are is viability and stability of rich distributed ecosystems of reusable components. Drawing on the metaphor of a contract, and working through specific example of a simple React component, I will demonstrate how a public-facing interface can be modeled using natural language contracts, structured comments, runtime type guards, React's own native property type constraints, and various static type systems and code analysis tools, such as TypeScript and the Flow type checker. The talk should therefore contribute an additional, "ecological" aspect, with its emphasis on collaboration, distribution and resilience, which seems to be missing from the current debate, while providing, at the same time, practical toolset for real-world Front-End development problems.

• Yaniv Efraim (https://github.com/yanivefraim) - Welcome to Angular 2.0

Introduction to Angular 2.0 basics. We will have a live coding session: how to build Angular 2.0 application from scratch.
