"A man called Ove", and book exchange
Details
1. The book for this month is Fredrik Backman's "A man called Ove".
From Amazon: "Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him the bitter neighbor from hell. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness".
2. Book exchange: Like we did in previous years, we will organise a book exchange after the discussion of the book, for those who are interested: Buy a book (+/- Baht 500 or so) that you find particularly interesting or special, and wrap it as a gift. It can be a newly purchased book, or one from your own collection, or one from a second hand store. In line with the main thrust of our group the book should ideally be fiction (but not necessarily a timeless classic).
All books will be put in a basket at the venue, and after the discussion they will be distributed to the "book gift participants". The one who brought the book will explain why the book is so special or interesting to him/her - and we can have a brief discussion about it too.
Participation is of course entirely voluntary, and you can stay on even if you don't actively participate.
