Joint Base Andrews Air Show Sept. 13-14 11:00 AM

This is Rob Trek. I wanted to add some last minute notes. Unfortunately, I won't be attending.

• The sooner you get there, the better. Remember, you need to park in Landover and take a free shuttle bus to the base. You'll probably want to arrive there by 9:30 am.
• Once you get dropped off, a good meeting place would be where the vendors sell food. Meet up somewhere in the middle of all that at 11 am.
• It's easy to get separated during the various events. It would be best to agree to meet up again after the main event (Thunderbirds) is over. Then you'll all need to take the bus back to Landover.

I went in 2022 and posted some photos from this event.
Here are some tips.

• Get there early! In 2022, they closed admission around 10:30am as it was full.
• The show lasts all day. Food is for sale from vendors. It is credit card only.
• The main event (Thunderbirds) is last. So it will probably start between 3 and 4 pm.

Camera Lens

• For flying planes: A Zoom or Prime lens that can reach 600mm (or equivalent) is best.
• For the ground: Wide-angle and Fisheye lenses are great

Camera Settings (for flying planes)

• Shoot in Shutter Priority (S or Tv) mode.
• Shutter speed to 1/4000
• AutoISO
• Center weighted metering
• Continuous Shutter with AF
• IBIS and Lens Stabilization OFF

Entry to the Andrews Airshow is FREE! Shuttle buses from satellite parking lots are free as well.

Plan Your Trip: Parking
* Free general admission parking will be available at Northwest Stadium (1600 Ring Rd, Landover, MD 20785) with free shuttle services to Joint Base Andrews.

* Buses will run from Northwest Stadium to Joint Base Andrews from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The last return bus from Joint Base Andrews to Northwest Stadium will depart at 5 p.m.

* Accessible parking for attendees with valid handicap placards will be available at Northwest Stadium. Accessible buses will be available to and from the event.

* Taking Metro or rideshare? All attendees must board the free shuttle at Northwest Stadium to travel to Joint Base Andrews.
