About us
This is a group for anyone interested in hiking or camping in the Virginia area and surrounding states. All skill levels are welcome.
You should join this group if you enjoy the outdoors and like the idea of hiking or camping. Also, even though we're based out of Richmond, don't let it prevent you from signing up if you live elsewhere in Virginia. Trips will be led in all regions of the state and as long as you're willing to travel to a destination we'll be glad to have you join.
If you're new to hiking or camping there are plenty of experienced members to help shorten your learning curve to help avoid some of the more common mistakes we've all likely made at some point in our travels.
There will be a good range of hikes for different skill levels including some nice, easy, introductory trips as well as some more intense up and down hikes. The great part is each hike will have a good summary of what you can expect and you decide what works best for you.

Our Final Quest
Westmoreland State Park, 145 Cliff Road,, Montross, VA, USUPDATE>>>Cynda, Dena and my Master Hikers presentation will be at the Westmoreland State Park Visitors Center on Saturday, Oct 24 at 10 am for anyone who would like to attend. If anyone else has completed the Quest, it would be a great if you would like to join us for your presentation.
Please join Dena, Cynda, and I as we celebrate the completion of the Virginia State Park Trail Quest Program. This means we have visited at least 40 of the 41 participating state parks in the State.
I am hoping that we will be able to have our Master Hiker ceremony at this park but if not we will celebrate on our own.I have already reserved Site A18. If you would like to join us for a weekend of camping, you must reserve your own site through https://www.reservevaparks.com/Web/ You must set up an account if you do not have one. Also, I am not planning a carpool location. I will meet you at the campground in the park.
I don't really have an itinerary at this time, but thought we can have our potluck on Friday night, and on Saturday, we can explore the park, and maybe explore the nearby Washington's birthplace.
