AT - Sunset Field to Petites Gap - 7.5 miles

This is the next in a series of "section hikes" to knock out portions of the Appalachian Trail (also known as "the AT"). I have a personal goal to hike every mile of the AT from Georgia to Maine and this is a section I haven't done yet.

We'll meet at 10:30 am at the Petites Gap Road parking area. We'll then shuttle hikers to the start at Sunset Field parking area (link to Sunset Field parking area --> https://maps.app.goo.gl/Co68vKmAxVG5BFZy6).
At the conclusion of the hike we will shuttle drivers back to the start to pick up any vehicles.
• Hiking Distance: 7.5 miles (Source FarOut)
• Elevation Gain: About 1,335 feet (Source FarOut, includes all the ups, not the difference between low and high point of trip)
• Hiking Pace: Moderate (about 1.5 to 2 miles per hour)
• Trail Terrain: rocks, dirt
• Difficulty: Moderate
• Organizer Will Provide: Basic first aid kit
• Dogs Not Allowed
• Cancellation: If weather becomes an issue, call or check your email for updates before leaving.
