Let’s try this trip again in warmer weather when hopefully the Blue Ridge Parkway won’t be shut down! And to avoid the snore symphony I am switching our overnight accommodations from Bryant Ridge Shelter to Cornelius Shelter.
This is a backpacking trip. Make sure you have the proper gear to backpack for the season. This is a point-to-point hike. We will park at Jennings Creek parking area AT Mile 758.8 and self-shuttle to AT mile 774.2 Thunder Ridge Lookout Parking area where we will start.
Saturday: We will hike from Thunder Ridge Lookout Parking area to Cornelius Shelter mile marker 767.5 a 6.9-mile hike to camp. Shelter has space for 6 tents inside, tent spots, Privy, Water Source.
Sunday: Pack up camp backpack to Jennings Creek to our vehicle AT mile marker 758.8. Day 2 mileage 8.7 miles
Total mileage for trip: 15.6 miles
