What we’re about

Hello!! I'm a current organizer of a fairly active meetup group looking to focus on some wine events in the nearby local area and throughout the state of Virginia. I live in Williamsburg and I'll do most events locally at first, and then will do some day road trips and we'll try and do a few overnighters or weekend trips a few times throughout the year. I already have the experience of hosting wine weekends away but the wineries visited have been mostly between Charlottesville and Wintergreen. I'm at a point where I have a number of favorites in that area and have visited a few of them several times and I'm looking to change things up. I want to explore the wineries in the rest of the state so I'm creating a new group to do just that with some new friends although I love the friends that I have!! There isn't going to be a lot of events on this meetup group, maybe one or 2 events a month, more if I can get some members to help organize. Beside wineries, we'll try and do some wine festivals and other wine related events and may visit a brewery on occasion. If you see something that might be of interest to the group, please let me know. I might not necessarily host it myself but would be happy to post an event on your behalf.

You must have a face shot of yourself to join. I'm not going to implement the meetup dues on the site but will be charging a mandatory fee of $10 i(charged once a year) in addition to transportation charges if you carpool with me somewhere or stay in a house with me somewhere. It's my way to recover some of cost of the organizer subscription which is currently $180 every 6 months. Anyone who hosts events on either of my meetup groups is exempt from the $10 fee as is anyone who has made a donation in the past 12 months. Some others have donated in other ways without cash being exchanged and that counts as an exemption for the $10 fee as well.

For a carpool, I will try and ensure it's not the same people riding with on every road trip. Regarding weekend trips when we stay in a house, I will be somewhat selective based on how well I know you and how often you attend events. Most house stays will be ladies only but anyone will be free to make their own accommodations and meet up with us. I'll do co-ed in a house if we can get more than 1 guy to go but I've found it's typically one token guy in attendance and I'd like to avoid that in the future. Also, there is no such thing as "I'll pay you Later" when I book a house, payment secures your spot at the time of booking. Also, no refunds for a house stay unless we find somebody to take your spot. Don't commit to a house stay unless you know you can definitely go.

I think I covered everything. This about section will be a work in progress for a little bit. Feel free to message me if you have any questions, thoughts or ideas.
