The Virtual Library: All Day Working Challenge

Details
This Meetup is for anyone who wants to get some work done from home and finds it helpful to have other people around doing the same thing.
Meeting together online seems to help create a virtual library. We can get on with work in silence, while having the support of other members of the group to keep us going. It doesn't really matter what kind of work you are doing: whether it's a writing project, doing some research, or just paying some bills, working together seems to help us get more done.
Log in to Zoom at any point during the session when you want to get some work done. Give a wave to the other members of the group, and then start work, in silence, on whatever you are doing. If you find seeing all the other members of the group distracting, you can minimise the video to the corner of the screen once you start work. Alternatively, if seeing everyone else working keeps you going, some members of the group run Zoom on their phone or tablet and then sit and work a few feet away from the camera. You do need to keep video enabled, but apart from that, you can just do whatever works for you.
If you want to join in and haven't done this before, try clicking on the link before we start and check that you are able to use it on your phone / laptop.
Here are the library rules for the session:
- Keep your video running while you are working.
- If you have to leave the room for a few minutes, keep your webcam on while you are away, so people can see you are planning to come back. It's a bit off-putting to see a black screen and not know if there is anyone there or not.
- If you aren't coming back, just post a message in the chat to say you are leaving.
- Microphones are on mute during the session. If you have something urgent to say eg 'Help! A swarm of bees has invaded my house,' then you can unmute yourself. For anything that is not urgent, just post a message in the webchat.
There is a WhatsApp group where members of the group can post links to any co-working sessions they want to organise, or share links to things they have written . You can join it after you have attended at least one Meetup, just send a direct message to David with a mobile number to join.
Apologies in advance for any technical glitches. We are all learning how best to do this as we go. If you think there is something that could be improved, let us know.
