Viseu Tech Talks is hosting its fifth meetup in the city of Viriato, the first of this second quarter sponsor by xgeeks! It's been a year since we started this journey, and we're already on our fifth meetup with growing attendance!

• 7:00 PM: Talk1 - "Cloud Chaos: Reining in Alerts for Effective Monitoring" by Luis Nina, DevOps Engineer at xgeeks 🎤

Abstract: In the era of cloud computing, effective monitoring is paramount, yet alert fatigue poses a significant challenge. "Cloud Chaos: Reining in Alerts for Effective Monitoring" explores how leveraging Alertmanager receivers can mitigate alert fatigue, streamline incident response, and enhance operational efficiency. This presentation delves into the causes and consequences of alert fatigue, introduces some Alertmanager features as a solution, and demonstrates how receivers can be configured to minimize noise while maximizing signal.

• 7:30 PM: Lightning Talk - "Enhance cloud security in CI/CD environments through OIDC" by Manuel Martins, Tech Lead at Deloitte and AWS Community Builder 🎤

Abstract: Current software development practices use CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing and deployment, which is crucial for fast flow of changes to production and achieve a high degree of delivery quality. These pipelines are suceptible to being setup with IAM users static keys to access and modify Cloud environments, leading to common security pitfalls such as potential long term credential exposure. A more secure alternative is using OIDC to temporarily authenticate and assume authorized roles, in turn enhancing security and enabling the fine-grained access controls.
