Gelli-Palooza Workshop - Visual Arts of Prosper

What is Gelli printing, you may ask? It is a form of mono printing that uses flexible printing plates to create textures and layers of color. These prints can be used in collage, as backgrounds for other artworks, or as a stand alone artwork.
In this workshop Crystal will help you make sense of the versatile art of Gelli printing. Transfers, masks, stencils, masks, stamping, textures, and many more techniques will be covered. Layering will be explored using plant material and texture tools on a variety of papers. Crystal will also be covering a variety of recycled and “on the cheap” objects you can use to create great effects.
There will be demonstrations, handouts and plenty of time to play. This workshop is for beginners as well as experienced artists. If you are interested in fun and exploration, this workshop is for you!
Materials: All materials will be included, however, if you have your own Gelli plate please bring it, there are extra Gelli plates available for folks that need one or if you would like to try a different size or shape. (New Gelli plates will also be available for purchase.)
*Paint will also be provided but if you have favorite colors or brands of acrylic paint, please feel free to bring them.

Bio - As an artist Crystal Nelson enjoys experimenting and exploring new techniques and materials. Her love of mark-making and surface design is evident in her bold and graphic mixed media paintings, prints and collage work. Her work can be seen in various local art league exhibits and galleries. Crystal taught middle school art for over 27 years and has led workshops and classes in collage, mixed media, assemblage and printmaking for over 30 years as well. Most recently she’s been a presenter at the Spiritual Artist Retreat at Lake Texoma and Santa Fe NM and held various workshops at the Denton Maker Center (DMC).

Lunch - There will be an hour break for lunch. You can bring your lunch, go out, or keep creating.
