Visual Fields Keynote — Creating an Illustrated Book from A–Z 📖🧑‍🎨

How do you turn a vague idea into a published illustrated book?

Designer and illustrator Flore de Crombrugghe takes us through the journey — from first sketches to print — sharing insights on collaboration, design decisions, and the realities of book production, including mistakes that turned into learnings.

Her book, 333 saftige Papayas, co-created with Rasa Weber, is an "unvollständiges Kompendium" about genitals and the words we associate with them. It was published in 2024 by März Verlag, Berlin.

Flore, a Zürich-based interaction and UX/UI designer originally from Belgium, moves between digital products and illustration. Join us on September 9 as she shares the story of creating this unconventional project and the creative process behind it.

In Flore’s talk, you will learn about:

• How a book really comes together: from first idea to final publication.
• Designing with intent: layout, typography, and composition.
• Illustration process: from sketches to final artwork.
