Hiking from Simeonovo to Cherni Vrah: The Highest Peak of Vitosha Mountain

Details
Join us for this summer hike that will start from Simeonovo (the last stop of Bus 67) and go to Peak Cherni Vrah, the highest peak on Vitosha Mountain. Starting at 9:30 AM, our hike begins in the forests above Simeonovo, following a well-marked trail to Hut Aleko. This moderate 7 km hike takes about 2.5-3 hours, offering plenty of shade and natural beauty along the way.
At Hut Aleko, we'll take a break to rest and hydrate. After our break, we'll continue to Peak Cherni Vrah, which takes another ~ 1.5 hours. When we reach the peak at 2290 meters, we'll take a break and enjoy the panoramic views. After the break, we'll descend back to hut Aleko - this 4 km return hike takes about 1-1.5 hours. Once back at Hut Aleko, we'll catch Bus 66 (that runs approximately every 25 minutes) for a comfortable ride back to Sofia.
Please note that this hike may be physically challenging for some due to the significant elevation gain, so it may not be suitable for beginners. Ensure you bring comfortable hiking boots, layered clothing, enough water and snacks, and a camera. Don't forget to apply sunscreen, as there will be a lot of sun exposure, especially at higher altitudes.
