Learning to Perform a Song/Aria Workshop

Details

We will all be performing in this class. Then afterward each performance we will talk about how to assess a performance constructively for further improvement while maintaining a positive and supportive self image and attitude.

We will be start with a brief warm up of BreathingRx For Singers techniques as if we are preparing before a performance. These warm ups will include: Freeing the body and diaphragm, jaw, tongue and throat release and diaphragm strengthening. I will also review a vocal focus exercise created by the Met Opera star Atarah Hazzan.

We are going to have a lot of fun and this workshop will be exciting and energizing. In this one we are limited to 8 so everyone can perform as they want. Please bring what you want to perform. It can be up to 2 songs or 7 minutes of performing time, (like an open mike venue). Bring what you need to perform, guitar, your music, chord chart, etc.

I will also talk briefly about nerves and energy for performing and how to interact with an audience, performance confidence and creating a safe, supportive space for yourself as a performer just before a performance.

See you at the workshop!
