What we’re about
This group is for any engineers, developers, and other tech professionals who want to develop their self-expression, communication, and presentation skills, as well as meet some like-minded folks.
👉 Each month we'll explore a specific theme, such as:
- My voice won't come out in meetings
- I can speak to the data but brainstorming is really tough
- I'm not as confident in my non-native language
- It's difficult to describe my complex work in simple terms
- I don't like the sound of my voice
- My boss says I need to speak up more
- I don't know when it's my turn to speak in a meeting
- I'm shy and find it difficult to speak up
- I'm frequently asked to repeat myself
- I can speak up around my peers but freeze around my boss
- I take on too much because I can't say 'no'
- I'm frequently asked to repeat myself
- And more
👉 We typically have 1-2 events each month:
1. Facilitated group discussion w/topic prompted in advance
- 1st Wednesday of every month
- 6:30 - 7:00 arrive and settle in
- 7:00 - 9:00pm facilitated discussion
- In-person (or occasionally via Zoom, if necessary.)
2. Group workshop, training, or guest speaker event
- TBD each month
- In-person, online or hybrid
- Sometimes free, sometimes a small investment will be required to cover the cost of the speaker, space, materials or other event costs.
👉 About the Facilitator:
My name is Sam, and for 15+ years, I have worked within the Silicon Valley ecosystem helping more than 1000+ people from 22 countries and 60 organizations build confidence in their communication and presentation skills.
