Welcome to Volo Pickleball Pickup!
Pickup/ Mini Open Play: This self-reffed pickup is the best way to practice your pickleball skills and meet fellow fans of the sport! These pickups tend to be 60-90 minutes on 1-2 courts perfect for our Split n Stay format, where the winning team splits up and takes a new partner from off the court. This rotation helps level set players with different skillsets. Games are first to 11 points
Standard Open Play: Feel free to arrive anytime between [INSERT DESIGNATED TIMES]. Open Plays have extended capacities and are formatted to maximize rotational play and socializing! While waiting for a court to open up, the players take their paddles and set them in line for a court. If you win, you stay on, but winning team stays on for a max of 2 games. After a game is completed, designated players leave the court and the paddles next in line hop on. Be prepared to play on multiple courts with and against different players! If able, we can designate skill levels to specific courts. The direction you place your paddle indicates your skill level. Find your staff onsite to get more information! Games are first to 11 points
Split n Stay Open Play: Feel free to arrive anytime between 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Open Plays have extended capacities and are formatted to maximize rotational play and socializing! Make sure to add your paddle to the line to get on the court when you arrive. After players finish their match, the winning team must split and the next two new players come on. Individuals can stay on the court for 2 games max - if you win twice, you’re off and 3 new players would hop on the court that round! Games are first to 11 points
Ladder Partner: Feel free to arrive anytime between 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Open Plays have extended capacities and are formatted to maximize rotational play and socializing! Ladder Split is designed for players with a partner/ open to playing with the same partner the whole session. If you win the game your team moves to the right and if you lose you move to the left. Please note, if you lose, your team will sit out the next game.The best team stays on the far right court as long as possible! Games are 15 min or first to 11, win by two if time allows.
Ladder Split: Feel free to arrive anytime between 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Open Plays have extended capacities and are formatted to maximize rotational play and socializing! Ladder Split is designed for players without a set partner/ open to playing with different people - YOU WILL PLAY WITH DIFFERENT PARTNERS EACH GAME. If you and your partner win the game, you move to the right but you and your partner split and take new partners from the team moving down who will also split. Please note, if you lose, you will sit out the next game. Games are 15 min or first to 11, win by two if time allows.

Basic Rules & Formats
- Score starts 0-0-2 (last number indicates the server)
- Serving
- Teams can only score when they are serving
- You cannot serve into the kitchen
- The serving team cannot volley (hit the ball out of the air) on the first return
- Traditional scoring
- Play to 11 or 15 min depending on the format
- Games are win by 2 if there’s time

- Paddle Stack by handle direction for Open play
- Paddle down = beginner
- Paddle right = intermediate
- Paddle left = upper intermediate
- Paddle up = advanced
- Paddle in Line Format
- Set your paddle in line and organize based on your skill level
- Winners stay on (2 games max)
- Players with the next paddle in line at that court challenges the winners
- Split n Stay Open Play
- Play to 11; win by two
- Team that wins stays on the court but splits
- Winning players become opponents and take a new partner from the line
- Winners can only stay on for 2 games max. As a result, Some rounds require 3 new players to join the court
- Ladder Partner
- Play for 15 min or to 11, win by 2 (if time allows)
- Teams that win play on the court to their right
- Teams that lose sit out one round and play on the court to their left
- Ladder Split
- Play for 15 min or to 11, win by 2 (if time allows)
- Teams that win play on the court to their right but split
- Winning players become opponents and take a new partner from the losing team that moved down
- Teams that lose sit out one round and play on the court to their left, taking a new partner when they enter
Pickleball Skill Levels:
- Beginner/Social (Never Played & Looking to Learn) - This level is for players with no prior experience playing the sport, best for players who want to improve and try something new, for those looking to make friends, and are primarily there to have fun! DUPR Rating <2.5
- Intermediate (Played before and can consistently get the ball over the net) - This level is for players who have played before and are seeking a little more competition. Players at this level have a good understanding of the rules and have the basic skills down. DUPR Rating 2.5 - 3.24
- Upper Intermediate (Leveling up and learning skills beyond the basics) - This level is for players who have a progressed beyond the basic skills. They have ball/ paddle control and are learning to keep up in a competitive rally featuring aggressive dinking, spin techniques, drop shots, etc. DUPR Rating 3.25 - 3.99
- Advanced/Competitive (Knows the DUPR scale and looking for the ultimate challenge) - This level is for players looking for a competitive game. This level is only meant for players who have experience playing this sport and are looking for the highest level of play. DUPR Rating 4.0+
- All levels (Mixed levels of play) - This level welcomes all skill levels and gives players opportunities to grow skills together at mixed level.
Note: Should there be a change to the pickup (ie venue closure), players will be notified on whether the program will run at least 90 minutes prior to the start of the program via email, but we will let you know as soon as we know and try to recommend other options if available.
Arrive Early for Check-In
Arrive up to 10 minutes before your game time for check-in. Each individual is required to scan their QR code in the app before every game.
QR Code Scan: Players are required to download the Volo App and present the QR code associated with their league to the host on site. Already have the Volo App? Make sure you have updated to the latest version. Download now for iOS or Android.
Turn On Push Notifications
