Food Bank of Larimer County - Making Bread Cutting Boards with FoCo Creator Hub

The Fort Collins Creator Hub, a FoCo community nonprofit makerspace is volunteering their time to make wood bread boards that will become a fundraiser for the Food Bank of Larimer County. And they need our help! The July 31st build day is to 'glue up' boards as well as other tasks.

"Six months ago [2019], Sears Trostel Lumber & Millwork announced it would no longer hold its popular Bread 'N' Boards fundraiser for the Food Bank of Larimer County.

Business demands made it impossible to free up workers to cut and sand more than 1,000 bread boards, Sears Trostel General Manager Curt Viehmeyer said at the time. They made the tough decision to end the event that had raised more than $330,000 over its 13-year run. It had become the third largest single-day fundraiser for the food bank.

It wasn't the end of the story.

The Fort Collins Creator Hub, a group of local artisans, engineers and tinkerers, took up the cause creating more than 500 handmade bread boards to sell in its first Bountiful Boards."
