Nurse Covid-19 Appreciation

Objective: Show appreciation for nurses during the Covid-19 crisis.

Hi all -- I'm getting a process going for buying meals for nurses to show appreciation for the fact that they are on the front lines and risking their health to help others. I already have a couple nurse friends who will facilitate the ordering and the transportation of the meal to their units. Right now I need a couple donors. This program will increase slowly as I build connections and make sure everything is working well and solely for the purpose of showing appreciation for our frontline healthcare workers. Process:

1. Amount of donation is selected by the donor(s). So far we've done a $50 run that bought a bagel+coffee run for a unit of 12 nurses. We can obviously go up from there if you want to. We can probably do less than that or pool resources.
2. Nurse lead selects based on the donation where to pick up food given her/his department need/wants and communicates it to the donor.
3. Donor(s) sends money to nurse (this is to ensure that nurse isn’t stuck with a bill she/he has to pay)
4. Nurse lead picks up meals and brings it into work
5. Nurse lead screenshots receipt and sends to donor(s), along with any leftover money

FAQ(s):

How are nurses verified so that we know it isn’t some scammer in a basement getting a free lunch for his quarantine LAN party?

All nurses can be verified by the donor by calling the number of the nursing department (which can be verified with a google search) and asking to speak to the nurse for verification.

Do I have to leave my quarantine?

No, not at all. All done through the smartphone and messaging. The nurse picks up the food. As an added benefit, we're supporting the restaurant industry.
