This is a tide sensitive area, consisting largely of narrow, windy, black needle rush-lined creeks penetrating beautiful coastal wetlands. Misjudging the tides, or getting lost back in this area is the reason I've never seen another kayak back there other than trips the Sierra Club has led. It is nearly virgin territory as far as paddlers are concerned, and a rather unique experience. We launch at the Princess Place canoe launch, work our way around the main lodge built in 1886 and up into Styles Creek, crossing under the covered bridge.
Meet at the canoe launch area at 8:30 am and we will put in at 9:00.
Paddle time is about 3 hours. Bring a hat, plenty to drink and maybe a snack. This is for intermediate kayakers. Members may bring one guest.
