Paddle Alexander Spring Creek in Ocala National Forest.
Details
We'll be paddling Alexander Spring Creek (about 20 minutes west of Astor) for a lovely 3+ hour lazy water, round trip paddle in Ocala National Forest. This is the very first Florida waterway I ever explored with my grandfather way back in 1967.
There are a series of jungle-like islands along much of the creek. We may be navigating through patches of aquatic vegetation, so this is best suited to strong intermediate paddlers as some effort will be involved from time to time.
There will be some weeds, a few branches, maybe a fallen tree or two we'll need to scooch over as we explore. It's an adventure!!
This event is for intermediate paddlers. Intermediate paddlers will usually have their own kayak and gear. They are comfortable paddling 10 to 15 miles. They are capable of paddling against moderate currents in streams and rivers and lake crossings with light to moderate waves. They are capable of self-rescue and assisting in water rescues.
