Paddle the Silver River from Silver Springs State Park one way shuttle

The Silver River from Silver Springs is an iconic Florida paddle where the wildlife is generally highly visible. This will be a leisurely paddle with the emphasis on photography. Along with the usual variety of wading birds, it is possible to see the famous macaque monkeys and manatees. Its crystal-clear water has provided stunning locations for features from Sea Hunt to the Creature from the Black lagoon and other movies.
We will meet at Silver Springs State Park, look for Ryan (kayak rental guy) and his white van with a kayak trailer at the far end of the main parking lot. You do NOT go into the main park (big park gates, don't go there).
IF YOU ARE RENTING: Arrive at 9:00 sharp or earlier to get your reserved kayaks, SHUTTLE OR RENTAL RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE ONLINE.

to make your shuttle or rental reservations. Indicate May 7th and a shuttle pickup time of 1 pm.
We will launch around 10 am.
There is also a $2.00 park entrance fee and a $4.00 launch fee. Shuttle is $15 + tax.
The one-way leisurely paddle with an emphasis on photography. It is about 5.5 miles total with the current all downstream to the takeout at Ray's Wayside Park just off Rte 40. The shuttle picks us up there. This outing is for intermediate paddlers.
INTERMEDIATE PADDLER RATING: Intermediate paddlers will have their own kayak and gear. They are comfortable paddling up to ten miles. They are capable of paddling against light currents in streams and rivers and lake crossings with light to moderate waves. They are capable of assisting in water rescues.

It is expected that all those joining us will be familiar with their own abilities AND limitations, exercising sound judgment as to their personal fitness level for this outing. We will be in a wilderness area inaccessible to emergency services.
