On Absurdistan

Details

Gary Shteyngart's second novel "Absurdistan" is a satirical take on the culture of the turn of the millenium through the lense of the story of Misha Vainburg, son of a Russian oligarch, who gets entangled in the internal politcal struggles of the country of Absurdistan while attempting to return to his true love in New York City.

For Vonnegut or Shteyngart enthusiasts, initiates, and the unacquainted; anyone interested in reading thoughtful and entertaining science fiction/literature with a humanistic bent.

Join us for a casual discussion of "Absurdistan" at the Federal Hill Main Street Office, 42 E Cross St, on Thursday, June 27th.

The door will be open around 7.15pm, discussion begins around 7.30pm, and the meetings generally run to sometime between 9 and 9.30pm.

"Absurdistan" is approximately 110,000 words long, so would take approximately 7 hours and 20 minutes to read at a steady clip of 250 wpm.
