Clinical Mixed Reality and Training the Next Generation of Physicians

Details

Mixed reality technologies, especially augmented reality applications, have been dramatically growing in medicine in the last year. In fact, two companies recently achieved FDA 510(k) clearance for clinical use cases.

As such, it is becoming even more imperative for clinicians to better understand how these technologies are best utilized in healthcare applications and the importance to train the next generation of practicing and innovating physicians.

New academic-industry partnerships such as the NSF’s MIXR and IMMERSIVE centers are leading projects on how to bridge current technology gaps and increase use and adoption in the clinical environment.

Mark Cohen, MD, Dean, Carle Illinois College of Medicine will be discussing several recent applications and use cases he participated in and the lessons learned while leading some of these efforts at the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois.

Dr. Wakim's impressive journey includes pioneering work in mixed reality simulators for #physician #training and #research in the application of #VR for pain and anxiety relief. With a strong background in Economics and a focus on digital health innovation, his insights are sure to enlighten our conversation. He will guide the presentation and ensure your questions get answered during the following Q&A.
