What does VueJS offer to the modern JavaScript developer? By Evan Schultz
Vue.js borrows many ideas from Angular and React, so developers familiar with those more established frameworks would find it easy to learn Vue.js. But why should they? Evan will provide a quick introduction to the framework and will discuss some of the situations where it may have advantages over both Angular and React. -
State Management with Vue.js by Hassan Djirdeh, front-end developer at Shopify
The ability to create Vue components as small decoupled units of functionality is necessary for the organization of applications. With this, parent-child and sibling-sibling components need to interact and manage information between each other. This is where it becomes incredibly important to have appropriate state management for the predictability and maintainability of your entire application. This talk will demonstrate different ways to handle data between components, and why Vuex is the most appropriate method for managing state for medium to large scale applications. In essence, the talk will focus on what Vuex is and how to integrate it into your Vue applications.
Bio: An engineering graduate from the University of Toronto and a self-taught web developer, Hassan is currently a front-end developer at Shopify. Prior to starting at Shopify, Hassan worked for a consulting firm where he had the opportunity to help a variety of different clients build and scale their front end applications. Hassan’s non-work interests range widely and when not in front of a computer screen, you can find Hassan either playing sports, traveling or running through the six (…you know how that should go).
