Mike Robinson and Carmel Ballinger from the Friends of Upper Lesmurdie Falls will talk will be about the work that the Friends group has done there, with photos of the changes that have been achieved.
Club members Mike and Rachel Green led an excursion to the area in September and have made the following observations:
Red-tailed Black Cockatoos, Grey Fantails, Australian Ring-neck Parrots, Striated Pardalotes and more have been seen nesting in the area.
It is a pretty area, predominantly Marri and Jarrah woodland with typical understorey. Unfortunately there have been quite a few vegetation deaths in the heatwaves but the birds continue and there are dense sets of reeds along some sections of the brook.
The Friends group is weeding the area, propagating plants to rehabilitate the bush, and adding facilities. They provide seating at key points along the walk as well as signage explaining some of the indigenous perspective on the natural history.

There will also be an 8-minute "Boffins’ talk" by Mike and Rachel Green, talking about and showing some photos of Rainbow Bee-eaters, as well as 'Thing of the month' and the 'Nature roadshow'.
