Welcoming The Stranger: Aliens & Religion
Details
“Space exploration leads directly to religious and philosophical questions.”
— Carl Sagan
There are potentially billions of Earth-like planets in our galaxy, which leads us to questions like: Are we alone in the universe? And does conscious life exist beyond our planet? These questions might seem to be purely scientific in nature, but with a few moments of contemplation, we can easily recognize that these questions also have social, theological, and even political implications.
To kick off the “fall” season, we will explore how major world religions might react to definitive proof that extraterrestrial beings exist.
