Speed Friending in Mauerpark (Open-Air)

This event is for everyone looking to meet new people without the hassle of being thrown into a big crowd. We will use the WahTalk app, which allows you to pick the people you find interesting and meet them 1-on-1 for a 5-minute conversation. If you decide to just take a look and end up not meeting anyone, that’s totally fine as well. Although I’d encourage you to give it a try at least once, as people often turn out to be much more interesting than their profiles would tell.

HOW IT WORKS

The meeting area is a 75 m radius around the location marked on the map. It’s also visible inside the app as a green circle. Find yourself a spot somewhere within this meeting area, be it on one of the benches, on a step or just on the grass.
Now, when you open up the app, you will find a list of all other participants who are spread out over the meeting area. If you find someone interesting, invite them for a talk by tapping on them in the app. Ideally, people will accept or reject your invitation through the app quickly and you will receive a notification. However, should your invitation go unanswered, it will expire automatically after 5 minutes. In that case, try again with someone else.
Don’t forget to refresh the list of nearby users regularly by pulling it down, to make sure it is up-to-date.
At any time after a talk, if you would like to stay in touch with the person you met, you can answer “Would you like to stay in touch?” in the app with “Yes”. If the other person chooses ”Yes” as well, you will be notified and can then view their contact details.

As explained, the (free) app is required in order to participate. So best install it and set up an account before you leave for this event.

Note, that this is an open-air event with no protection from bad weather. I therefore suggest taking a look at the forecast shortly before you set off.

COVID-19

Please follow the official guidelines to minimize the risk of spread, for example by leaving a little space between each other. I would also ask that if your current partner is feeling more comfortable wearing a mask, please also wear one yourself for the time of the meeting.
