Birdability Week: Wooten Meadow Park Bird Outing (2026-10-24)
Location 2801 West Millbrook Road, Raleigh NC

Birdability Week is a celebration of birders with disabilities and other health concerns, as well as an opportunity to share resources and ideas to help the birding community become accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to everybody!

Join us for an accessible bird outing around Raleigh's wetland recharge park, Wooten Meadow Park, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. There is ample parking, no steps, no steep slopes, and the north half of the 21-acre park has paved walkways through a picturesque wetland marsh, a grassy field, and a set of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers (and birds). Note that there is no restroom. Service animals are welcome.

Birdability Week 2026 takes place October 19 - 25.
This year's theme, Bird Where You Are, is an invitation to notice the birds around you in whatever way works best for you. It is also a reminder that you don't have to bird a certain way, know every species, hike long distances, or keep up with anyone else to be part of this community.

Organized by Audubon partner Birdability, this national event celebrates accessibility and inclusion in birding, affirming that birding is for everybody and every body.

Leader: Lynn Erla Beegle, 673-6136 , Optmystc1@gmail.com
Organizer: Rick LaRose, co-chair of Wake Audubon’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee
