Book Club: Science Under Siege
Details
Wake Audubon Book Club
Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 15, 2026, 6:45 pm to 8:00pm
MacGregor Village STARBUCKS, 101 S Edinburgh Drive, Cary, NC.
Our September meeting will be on the 15th at 6:35 at the MacGregor Village Starbucks in Cary. By popular vote, our book will be Science Under Siege: How to Fight the Five Most Powerful Forces that Threaten Our World by Michael E. Mann and Peter J. Hotez. This will be a great read looking at the present state and future of science (and of climate change!) I personally think it is nice after our blast from the past of Ravens In Winter. We look backwards and now it's time to look forward.
For those hoping to get a head start on our October read, it will be What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher. It's a short horror read (nothing too gory) based on Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher. This technically was meant to be a local author, Ursula Vernon who uses the pen-name T. Kingfisher! I mentioned it to my horror club group and one of them mentioned she moved out of state last year. Now their friend lives in her old house. It's truly a small world! This book can be found at the library or through bookstores.
As always, please let me know if you have anymore book recommendations! Look under my signature for related non-book club/Audubon events coming up this year that may interest you. We are not affiliated with any of the events but these are events that have come to my attention and I feel are worth sharing.
Our September meeting will be at Starbucks. Please bring a readily-available book suggestion for our next Book Club meeting, held every odd month on the third Tuesday (plus an additional meeting each even month on the third Monday) . You are also encouraged to participate in our book exchange (bring books to give away or trade). Thanks!
Please be prepared to make a small purchase to justify our free use of the conference room and to support the employees.
