Durant Bioblitz: RSVP OFF MEETUP
Details
Register on City of Raleigh Site
Still 7 spaces left, but you must go to the City of Raleigh site to register!
At a bioblitz, people help find as many different living things as they can in a short time, take photos, and post them on a community science platform like iNaturalist. You do not need to be able to identify everything that you see--you only need to be able to tell if one species could be different than another and get good photos of as many different things as possible. By documenting the unique plants and animals present at Durant, city staff can get a better understanding of how the watershed is impacted by stormwater runoff and the different ecosystem benefits it provides our community. These observations will also contribute to a master inventory list used to determine management practices for future conservation of the preserve.
Volunteers will use iNaturalist to document observations, so a smart device with the app loaded is required. Some experience with NC wildlife identification is recommended, but not absolutely necessary.
Volunteers will work in the woods on uneven terrain. Closed toed shoes are required.
There will be a restroom on site.
