Rigi-Seebodenalp hike from Küssnacht/Hohle Gasse
Details
This is a medium difficulty hike, mostly going through the forest trail that from Küssnacht (Arth side) leads up to the Seebodenalp, a plateau / valley at ca 2 / 3rds (ca 1200m) of the height of the Rigi (1797m).
The hike follows the profile of the mount Rigi starting very close to the lake Zug level.
Despite the trail never being too steep other than in very few points, the main challenge is the constant rise of the mountain crest for ca 6km from the starting point. If you’re not used to walking/hiking for a prolonged time uphill this seemingly easy trail might see you out of breath a few times since it’s not offering respite in its climb up until the Seebodenalp level (our destination).
Once there, a number of restaurants are available for food or just for a coffee or drink outside.
If you’re planning to join, remember to take wallet with cash (still several places in the area do not accept digital forms of payment or cards)… and remember the mask 😷
This hike shall bring us to cover a distance of ca 12 kms (up and back from the Hohle Gasse) and stretch for 4-5 hours (including breaks).
