See all- The Brecon Beacons Amazing Six WaterfallsSqwyd Gwladys Coffee House, Glyn Neath£7.50
This is the first of our late availability listings. We occasionally have bookings through other channels for hikes with low attendance. When this occurs, we'll share those hikes with this Meetup group in order to make the day enjoyable, as 'social' is what we are all about. At the time of writing, we have four booked onto this hike, and we are limiting tickets available to this Wales Outdoors Social group to four spots.
Join a local guide on a simply amazing small group tour of this circular hiking route in the Waterfalls area of the Brecon Beacons National Park. See the six main waterfalls of the national park as well as some smaller falls and cascades, and admire the scenic valleys and the forest landscapes.
Meet your guide in a fine bistro cafe in the village of Pontneddfechan. Perhaps you will choose to have breakfast here? We will then visit each waterfall as you learn about the local area from your guide. You'll gain 400m of height on the 15km hike, which is often over rough, muddy and broken ground. For our hiking troubles, we get amazing scenic views of the park and wonderful memories of sparkling waterfalls.
Immerse yourself in the landscape as you get the chance to walk behind some of the waterfalls. Perhaps you will take an invigorating swim in the final pool to finish off the tour!

Wales Outdoors Kit Shop - Our merchandise and small shop selling our recommended kit and kit hire options
Accommodation In Wales - Our curated live booking accommodation in Wales
Other Experiences In Wales - Our partners offering direct booking live availability experiencesWith the waterfalls area being popular, its paths can become very crowded indeed. However, the path we will take for most of the day only ever has a handful of walkers, and midweek we'll have much of the hike to ourselves!
The hike will be delivered by a fully qualified mountain leader who will know a great deal about both the waterfalls area and the Brecon Beacons National Park, and of course the mountains of Wales in general. They will describe what you are seeing and tell you a few tall tales along the way...
We have been delivering walks at this location for over thirty years, and our knowledge of the area, its industrial heritage and its natural environments will be ours to share with you as you take in the best valley walks in Brecon Beacons National Park!
During the months of May to September, there is a cafe halfway round, but do not depend on this for sustenance unless advised by us to do so. It's a pop-up and so is often closed due to weather conditions, so we always advise taking a good packed lunch along with a flask of something warm.
Know before you go
- We may be able to provide transport from Cardiff or some other South Wales locations. Please enquire about options and costs
- This tour will take place rain or shine
- You will climb 400m, but this is gently done
- Andy may bring his dog with him. If this is an issue for you, please let us know
- Although most levels of fitness can be accommodated, please be sensible when booking and know your own ability
Please Note
A good level of fitness is required for all of our mountain walks. If walking with us, please know that the weather can change, and at times we do need to keep moving, especially in winter, to remain warm and safe. - Senni Valley CircuitBlaen Llia Forestry Car Park, Ystradfellte£7.50
What a day hiking! We make a circular route around the gorgeous Senni Valley.
Starting at Blaen Llia forestry car park we follow the Roman Road, Sarn Helen, downhill, past Maen Llia, a huge singular megalith, past the uber picturesque hanging valley before heading into the hamlet of Heal Senni.
Then it's up and an exploration of the abandoned Senni Quarry before making our ascent of Fan Nedd for a 360 degree overview of the days hike. Then it's downhill and back to the start point. If we are not feeling it we can avoid the ascent of Fan Nedd by skirting around it, so reducing the days height gain by about 150m.
21km and 730m of ascent, so a tough day but one that has so much beauty and interest you'll agree it was all worth it :)
Walking boots, layers, waterproofs and a good packed lunch are essential.
Wales Outdoors can hire boots, packs and trekking poles - https://www.walesoutdoors.co.uk/shop
- Aberbeeg And Llanhilleth CommonLlanhilleth Railway Station, llanhilleth£7.50
If you want to be surprised by the beauty of a post industrial landscape then this is the hike for you! Aberbeeg happens to be Andy's go to when promoting the Gwent Valleys and then there is so much more of interest on this hike.
Beginning at Llanhilleth, the route trends upwards and then towards Llanhilleth Common, stopping for an exploration of 'Blue Lagoon'. Then it's downhill, skirting Abertillery and picking up a riverside trail that takes us through Aberbeeg, past 'The Guardian' and back to the start point.
This is an easier walk with 14km and 325m of ascent, allowing for plenty of stops and exploration along the way.
