This week's walk will take us from the Spitfire base turned private jet hub Biggin Hill to the predecessor of Heathrow, London's first international airport, Croydon Airport.

We'll be skirting through nature reserves and there will be a stop off at a wetherspoons around half way for a rest and refreshments.

Biggin Hill is still an operational airport so we can take some time for plane spotting and have a gander about the west side of the airport before we set off for the now sadly decommissioned Croydon airport.

The old terminal building is our end point and is still standing in all it's art deco splendour though acts as an office block with a museum on the ground floor. Parts of the airfield tarmac still exist in the neighbouring park.

Looking forward to seeing you all this week and venturing through the Kent countryside back towards London.

Google maps will show you how to get to Biggin Hill, Orpington is the nearest rail station, then the r2 bus takes you to the museum.

Connections home from Croydon will be more varied which is why I'm doing it this way around.
