Come explore historic Greenwich, NY with America's Walking Club, ESCVwalks.org. Greenwich is located in the southwest part of Washington County. Families began to settle in the area around 1763, which was first known as part of Argyle, then Whipple City, Union City and finally Greenwich as of 1867. Famous residents include Susan B. Anthony, who spent her childhood there, Chester A. Arthur, who spent five years of his childhood in Greenwich and became the 21st US President, Hal Ketchum, country music star, member of the Grand Old Opry Hall of Fame, James Howard Kunstler. author and social activist, presently residing in Greenwich, and Grandma Moses, folk artist.
Greenwich views itself as an important stop on the Underground Raroad, and a historical marker is placed in Mowry Park detailing the location of former safe houses.
All walkers must sign in and pay the $4 walk fee between 9:30-9:55 am. Both 5k and 10k routes are available. Come walk with us!
