The 10km walk route explores Newport’s rich maritime history and prominence as a vacation spot for the wealthy. Among the deepest natural harbors in the country, Newport’s 150 wharves once bustled with activity. The seaport atmosphere remains with cobblestone walkways, restored 18th and 19th century commercial shops, and the magnificent harbor now packed with elegant yachts. The return route traverses the newly renovated portion of the scenic Cliff Walk passing mansions and Salve Regina College. The 7km route includes part of the downtown area as well as the Cliff Walk.
